Explorer super clone

The clean, do-everything Rolex

About the Explorer

The Explorer is Rolex at its most essential — no date complication, no rotating bezel, just a black dial, luminous 3-6-9 Arabic numerals and an Oyster case built to last. Because the design is this clean, a Rolex Explorer replica has nowhere to hide: dial printing, hand alignment and case finishing are all immediately visible with nothing to distract from them.

VS Factory's Explorer runs a clone of the 3230 automatic — the no-date sibling of the 3235, with a similar going-train architecture, hacking seconds and hand-winding. The 3230 clone is the same caliber used in the VSF no-date Submariner, making it one of the most proven and stable movements in the VSF range. It carries a 2-year movement warranty.

The dial carries matte black lacquer with applied luminous plots and the correct weight of Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9. The Rolex coronet and 'EXPLORER' text must be printed at the precise weight: too heavy and the dial looks cluttered; too light and the logo reads as inconsistent. VSF's QC photographs include a macro of the coronet position and dial printing before dispatch.

The case is 36mm — the modern ref. 124270 dimensions — with a clean, smooth top surface that keeps the reference compact and elegant. The Oyster bracelet uses brushed centre links and polished outer links with a Crownclasp. The 36mm wears correctly on a wide range of wrist sizes, including as an everyday piece under a shirt cuff.

The Explorer is the recommendation for a first-time super clone buyer for a specific reason: the 3230 clone movement is the most stable caliber VSF produces, the case construction is simple with no complication or bezel mechanism to evaluate, and the clean dial makes quality immediately assessable from QC photos.

Explorer — common questions

A clone of the Rolex 3230 automatic — the no-date caliber used in the genuine Explorer and the VSF no-date Submariner. It hacks, hand-winds and carries a 2-year movement warranty. The 3230 is the cleanest and most reliable movement in the VSF range.
The Explorer's simplicity — no date, no bezel, no complication — means there are fewer variables to assess. The 3230 clone is highly stable, and the clean dial makes printing quality immediately obvious in QC photos. It is the easiest reference to evaluate remotely.
36mm, matching the modern ref. 124270. It wears slightly smaller than the 40mm Submariner and Air-King, making it an excellent choice for smaller wrists or for wearing under a shirt cuff. The 36mm is the correct modern reference — Rolex has not recently produced the Explorer in 39mm or 40mm.
The matte black dial uses luminous applied indices at 3, 6 and 9, with a correctly weighted Rolex coronet. Dial printing and hand alignment are both checked and photographed in the QC pack. The dial is the entire design of this watch and it is the primary checkpoint in every QC inspection.
The Explorer is less contested at the factory level than the Submariner or Daytona. The 3230 clone is consistent across VSF batches and the simple case construction means fewer finishing variables. For the Explorer, VSF is our standard recommendation without reservation.
